Redrawing the lines of the marketing org
TL;DR: The marketing org is being redrawn. Forrester found only 36% of Fortune 500 companies still have an executive titled Chief Marketing Officer, down from 49% a year earlier, as the function breaks into narrower disciplines like growth, brand and product. What holds a modern marketing team together is no longer the org chart. It is the shared Claude workspace the team works through: the skills, context and routines that make up its AI marketing operating system, or AMOS. That changes the manager's job. Managers become architects who sit two levels above day-to-day execution, design the system, and act as the review gate, the strategy lead and the prioritizer. Operators sit hands-on-keyboard inside one narrow discipline each, running the skills. The biggest risk is letting AI take on too much, so the most important design decision is where each skill stops and a person takes over. MKT1 shows where this goes: three people running a full marketing calendar on top of more than 100 skills.
